This website serves as a contribution to worldwide dialogues concerning art and education, particularly an emergence of both. As an educator, I believe in collaborative inquiry – investigating the surrounding world and actively learning with one another. As an artist, I believe creative communities thrive while in communication with one another; creating is not a cyclical process, but a fluctuating one. As these communities and methodologies combine, beneficial experience and affective learning is achieved.
I crave sharing and creating knowledge with(in) the world community. By sharing my thoughts, questions, research, and practice in such an open landscape I eagerly welcome dialogue – a collective investigation. Here, I share lesson plans, personal explorations about art/education, a peek into my artistic practice, and a window into my pedagogy. Although the website was first developed as a means to share my personal artistic practice with the world, it has evolved into a space for both personal and communal inquiry.
Much like an educational or artistic practice, this website is a work in progress. The idea of perfection is just that, an ideal. Here, I am human – an incomplete, ever-evolving, imperfect human. I am using the internet as a tool for accessible information and discussion, but it is also a tool for my future students. To allow them to see me as a work-in-progress, hopefully dispelling any inclinations that they are not good enough. We are all human. We are perfectly imperfect.
